The watermelon carries the colors of the Palestinian flag—red, green, white, and black—and has become a widely recognized visual expression of Palestinian identity and solidarity.
Within this BTZEK design, its triangular form carries a deliberate dual meaning. It recalls the red triangle of the Palestinian flag while its inverted orientation also references a contemporary symbol associated with Palestinian resistance—one whose meaning is contested because of its use in Hamas combat imagery.
The Z represents Zionism in BTZEK's artwork. By depicting the watermelon and inverted triangle descending forcefully onto the Z, the design expresses BTZEK's intended message of Palestinian identity confronting Zionism, resistance to erasure, and a determination to endure.
